One of the few on the market, and certainly the only one with such a well-thought-out design, is the Kingspan BioTec Flo powerless wastewater treatment plant! Ideal for summer homes or recreational homes that may become permanent residents or used periodically, for example, for six months, but also for single-family homes focused on energy savings. Unlike other solutions, the treatment plant does not require restarting after a period of downtime.

Kingspan BioTec Flo offers four models tailored to your needs. Models differ in their maximum capacity (6 or 8) and whether they feature gravity or pressure drainage.

How the Kingspan BioTec Flo treatment plant works:

Wastewater treatment begins in the primary settling tank, where coarse fractions separate and settle to the bottom, retaining fats. This process is supported by anaerobic bacteria. Pre-treated wastewater, free of coarse fractions, flows into the biological treatment and filtration zone located in the second tank. The wastewater is then evenly distributed across the surface of the biological filter bed—specially selected layers of varying composition and granulation—using a tilting trough. Inflowing sewage from the house raises the level in the primary settling tank, which flows into the biological reactor and fills the trough. Once the maximum level is reached, the trough tilts to one side, and the wastewater flows vertically through the bed, purifying itself. The first layer of filling is composed of synthetic fibers, while the second is filled with mineral material. The ventilation system allows for good oxygenation of the bed, thus enabling the development of aerobic bacteria, responsible for biological pollutant reduction. After percolating through both layers, the treated wastewater flows into a separate chamber with a pump. Once the maximum level is reached, the liquid is removed from the treatment plant by pressure and can be infiltrated into shallower layers of soil.

The branded Grundfos KP250 pump ensures long-term, failure-free operation.

Ultimately, the treatment plant produces very well-treated sewage which can be infiltrated using infiltration wells, drainage tunnels or, after obtaining permits, discharged into surface waters, e.g. rivers and lakes.
