Rainwater Tanks
A rainwater tank is used to collect, store, and then use rainwater for lawn watering. Additionally, water stored in the tank can also be used for other purposes, such as: car washing, cleaning work around the house, etc.
Rainwater flowing from the roof is collected by the gutter system and then led through a downpipe to the tank. The water is cleaned by a basket filter with fine mesh, then flows to the tank (by gravity). This system, thanks to the installation of a pump, allows for garden watering.
Rainwater Tanks – Above-ground or Underground?
Rainwater tanks are divided into two types: underground tanks and above-ground tanks. In both cases, their purpose is the same, which is collecting rainwater flowing from the roof, which can be reused, e.g., for lawn watering or car washing.
In the case of underground tanks, the advantage is that the installation is completely invisible, which positively affects the aesthetics around the building. An underground tank can also be located anywhere on the property, and rainwater is led to it through special pipes. This allows connecting all building gutters, so 100% of rainwater will go to one tank.
Above-ground tanks are placed directly next to gutters, and for their proper functioning, an emergency overflow and ventilation system is necessary. Which solution to choose? Much depends on needs and financial possibilities. A tank and its underground supply installation is certainly more expensive, but completely invisible and more efficient. This is because an underground tank can have a capacity of up to 10,000 liters.
